Rabbi Paul D. Bloom

Founder, author, educator, technology leader, and Aliyah advocate.

Rabbi Paul D. Bloom is the founder of the Israel Inspiration Initiative and the author of Coming Home: 101 Reasons to Make Aliyah—A Torah Perspective on Israel, Jewish History, and Destiny.

He made Aliyah in 2021 after more than 50 years in technology, telecommunications, research, and innovation. His leadership roles included AT&T Bell Laboratories, Bell Communications Research, and IBM Research, where he served as Chief Technology Officer for Communications Research.

He now applies strategic thinking and problem solving to strengthening the early stages of the Aliyah pipeline: helping more Jews reach the point where they are prepared to consider Aliyah seriously.

Torah and Communal Leadership

Rabbi Bloom received his semicha from Rabbi Aharon Zeigler, zt”l, in Jerusalem. For decades, he has combined Torah learning, professional leadership, and communal service through teaching, writing, speaking, educational programs, and initiatives strengthening Jewish identity and connection to Israel.

He has also been active in the development of and participation in Kohanim on Call, a network of approximately 1,500 kohanim that has facilitated more than 10,000 personal brachot for individuals and families throughout the Jewish world.

A Family Living the Diaspora–Israel Reality

Rabbi Bloom and his wife, Ettie, maintained a strong connection with Israel for many years before making Aliyah. Their experience reinforced his understanding that Aliyah is usually the culmination of years of education, family conversations, spiritual reflection, financial planning, and practical preparation.

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with family connections in Israel and the United States, he understands the realities faced by families whose lives span two countries. His approach encourages Aliyah clearly while respecting different responsibilities, relationships, and timelines.
